Back by Popular Demand

 

Registration Fee: $225 includes coaching during 25, 90- minute practices at PSA1, coaching at 5 tournaments, and a TEAM membership with USA Wrestling.  The fees for tournaments (approximately $13 each), individual USA wrestling membership ($40), uniform, headgear and shoes are not included in the fee.  The team will be led by Coach Ted Lavarias, an experienced wrestler and coach eager to motivate and inspire interested youth wrestlers.

 

PSA is pleased to announce the return of the Wrestling program to our facility.  Boys and girls ages 6-18 can register to train with Coach Ted Lavarias.  Practices will begin on Monday, November 14 from 6-8 pm.  

  

Revised Schedule:  All practices are from 6-7: 30 pm (younger group) and 7:30-9 pm (older group) at PSA1.

Coach Lavarias's Bio

 

Coach Ted Lavarias has many years of experience as both a wrestler and wrestling coach in New Jersey, one of the best wrestling states in the country.  He began wrestling at 12 years old in the recreational wrestling program in Teaneck, New Jersey.  In high school, he wrestled all four years on the varsity team, two years as captain, one year MVP, and has placed in many tournaments.  Years later, Coach Ted came back to Teaneck to coach the junior wrestling program and high school teams for four years and has coached Teaneck wrestlers to become district champions, regional placers, and state medal winners.  Coach Ted is also experienced in freestyle/Greco-Roman wrestling and took 3rd place in the New Jersey Open State Championships with the opportunity to qualify for the national team.

Coach Ted has plenty of experience teaching people as well, working as a wrestling coach, math/computer science tutor, martial arts instructor, rock climbing instructor, personal trainer, CrossFit trainer anad conversational English teacher to Japanese students from age 2 through 70.  Coach Ted not only understands how to teach effectively, but also how to motivate and inspire to get results.
