PSA SOCCER
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where does PSA play outdoor games?
Fields are assigned by the City of Plano which means PSA does not have control over where its teams play. The City of Plano does not provide this information to us until our current season registration closes because they assign fields to PSA based on our enrollment numbers. For this reason, schedules are not completed until about one week before the season starts. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this process with ths City of Plano before each season!

Where does PSA play indoor games?
PSA has four indoor turf arenas at PSA 1, PSA 2, PSA Murphy, and PSA McKinney. PSA turf is the best and safest available. We do NOT use synthetic dirt (ground tires) because it is difficult to manage in a multi-purpose facility. All PSA turf fields are safe and cleaned on a regular basis.
What time will outdoor games be played?
- Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Games times for Kindergarten and 1st Grade are Saturdays (8am-5pm start times) and Sunday (1pm-5pm start times), with occasional weeknight games.
- 2nd Grade: Game times are Saturdays (8am-5pm start times), Sundays (11:00am-5pm start times), and weeknights (6pm and 7:05pm start times). Fields are assigned by the city based on the number of players/teams in the league. They assume that we have 2 games a night during the week and assign fields accordingly. We are given just enough slots to play our games. We try to minimize the 7:05 slots during the school year by playing more weekend games.
- 3rd - 10th Grade: Game times are Saturdays (8am-8pm start times), Sundays (1pm-5pm start times), and weeknights (6pm and 7:30pm start times). Where do outdoor teams practice?
Practices are organized by the coaches. PSA does not track nor know what days of the week a coach practices, nor do we know the location he chooses for his/her team practices. Once your player has been assigned to a team, we cannot change teams for you due to the team's practice days/times. Please work with your coach to come up with a solution which best meets everyone's needs.
Where do indoor teams practice?
Summer & Winter indoor soccer registration fees do not include weekly indoor practice space. Coaches can rent PSA turf based on availability, practice at another location of their choice, or practice outdoors. Some teams will choose not to practice during these seasons.
How does my child get on a team?
When completing the registration, please be sure to fill in the school your child attends. For younger players who are in pre-school, please fill in the name of the school where they will be attending Kindergarten.
We also try to place kids on teams who are in the same zip code. This is easiest in the younger ages, but as teams get older and enter the league as an already formed team, it may be difficult to be placed on a neighborhood team. We do the best we can based on the slots which are available, but there are no guarantees.
When will I hear from our coach?
Your child's coach should contact you shortly after the coaches' meeting. Coaches meetings are posted on the appropriate season tab above.
Who provides the uniform and the other soccer equipment?
Uniforms are organized by the coach. PreK teams will have the option to purchase a team t-shirt at the time of registration. Parents are required to purchase their child's shin guards, shoes, and appropriate size soccer ball for practice. Shin guards, covered by socks, are required for all games.
What if our team has a schedule conflict?
Coaches, please submit schedule conflicts prior to the coaches meeting. These "conflict dates" are for dates you are certain your team is unable play. We cannot guarantee conflict dates will be granted, please be sure to put only those that would stop you from fielding a team and therefore would result in a forfeit. Please do not submit a schedule conflict if your "best" player will not be at the game or if the head coach is unavailable that day. There are always assistants willing to help step in and coach a game or two if needed.
The more conflicts you submit, the less likely your requests will all be accepted, which may result in an unbalanced schedule. We are unable to schedule around individual player's who play multiple sports. We will make sure if a coach is the head coach for two or more soccer teams, their initial schedule will not contain conflicts. However, if there is a lot of rain throughout the season which requires several reschedules, we cannot guarantee the schedules to be free of conflicts.
Once the schedule has been published, we do not re-schedule games. Please remember when we make a schedule change, it affects over 20 families.
In the past, there are several important events where we have been asked to modify schedules due to a conflict. If we are not provided the dates/information regarding these events ahead of time, we will have schedules your team on these dates and will not be able to re-schedule if you are unable get a full roster that day. Examples of these events are: First Communion, Adventure Guides, Boy Scout or Girl Scout Camp Outs, Band Concerts, 5th Grade Graduation, etc.
How are teams formed?
Our goal is to make sure every child who wants to play Soccer has a team on which to play. Teams are required to have a minimum number of players, so teams with fewer than the minimum will be filled from open registrations. If you wish to carry fewer than the minimum number of players, the team will be required to pay for the extra slot(s) before registration closes. Once registration closes, if that slot(s) is not paid for, we will assign a player to your team.
When will I find out when my first game is?
We post the date schedules will be published on the appropriate soccer tab above. You can see your child's schedule in your DASH/MySam Account.
What happens when games are postponed due to weather?
Weather related game cancellations are posted on our PSA Cancellations Tab.
Is there a refund policy?
