Jasmine Cannon - Girls Skills Coach

I am now a former student athlete at Grand Canyon, and Texas Southern University. I received my bachelor’s degree for Health and Kinisiology at Texas Southern  summer of 2012 after completing four years there, and playing on the women’s basketball team for three of the four years I attended. Texas Southern 2011-12 -- Saw action in at least 29 games in each of her three seasons at Texas Southern...averaged 9.1 points-per-game during her playing career with the Lady Tigers, posting arguably her best numbers in 2009-10...dished out at least 100 assists twice and had at least 30 steals each year...finished with 257 career assists for the Lady Tigers. 2010-11 -- Posted 8.2 points-per-game average after seeing action in 29 games...also had her second 100-assist season and grabbed a career-high 42 steals. 2009-10 -- Averaged 10.2 points-per-game during her sophomore campaign to rank 12th in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in scoring and during that same season, led her team with 104 assists, 306 points, a .383 three-point percentage and 114 made free throws...also ranked fourth in the SWAC in with a 0.8 assist-to-turnover ratio…recorded double-digit scoring in nine straight contests and accomplished the feat in six straight games to end the season. 2008-09 - Appeared in all 30 games and started in 20 as a true freshman...her 8.8 points-per-game average was second on the team, while she led the Lady Tigers with 137 free throws made...also tied for the team lead with 53 assists.

After playing three years at Texas Southern, I ended up sitting out my senior year and coaching high school girls’ basketball as an internship at Victory Preparatory Academy. It was a great experience being able to learn the different personalities, create practice plans, share some of my experience s, and assist on game days. I also attended Rowlett high school from the year 2005-2008. Rowlett HS First Team All-District as a junior and senior at Rowlett High School and also garnered Second Team All-District in her sophomore campaign...averaged 18.8 points-per-game, 4.3 assists-per-game, and 4.0 rebounds.
