Covid 19 Protocol

Below is important information on changes regarding the season, as well as health and safety guidelines specific to flag football which will be implemented when the games begin the week of June 17th.

 

Schedules

Schedules for Kinder through High School have been posted in DASH.  We will have playoffs for 1st grade and up.  Please note you will be playing at multiple arenas for the remainder of the season.  We do have a handful teams whose schedule will be released by Tuesday and will modify some whose schedules has already been released.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

 

Rosters

Coaches, please check that the correct players are listed on your DASH roster, especially if your team merged with another team. 

Rosters from DASH will be at the arenas and the Referees will check if necessary.

 

Uniforms

We are allowing teams who have merged to simply wear the SAME color shirt with temporary numbers or have the same color pennies for each game.   Every player must be on the team’s game roster.  

 

Coaching Badges

Since the buildings will not be open for Coaches to obtain a physical badge, please use the following procedures:

  • New Coaches – Please complete our coaches application.  When you have been approved, you will receive and email with instructions to print a copy of the email and bring to the game along with your driver’s license to show to the official.
  • Lost Badge – please send us an email and we will email you with instructions to print a copy of the email and bring to the game along with your driver’s license to show to the official.
  • Expired Badge – Please complete our coaches application.  When you have been approved, you will receive and email with instructions to print a copy of the email and bring to the game along with your driver’s license to show to the official.  IF your expired badge has an expiration date between March 2020 and August 2020, this will be acceptable.

Safety Protocols and Guidelines

Most importantly, we want to be safe as possible as we restart flag football.   We are taking a conservative approach and the below information will serve as your guide. Every person who attends a game or practice has an obligation to follow the Protocols and Guidelines below before they leave their homes.

Participants includes parents, players, coaches, staff, officials, volunteers, and any spectator.  Our purpose is safety first which includes some of the guidelines steered toward a conservative approach.  We want to ensure all parents and guardians recognized the enhanced risks of being in contact with anyone age 65 or older for 14 days after attending a sport event or practice.

We ask for everyone’s cooperation.

 

Prior to Practices or Games

 

  • All Adults to ensure the players and themselves are healthy by checking temperature before activities with others. Do not attend trainings or games if anyone is exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC. 
  • Players or Adults should not attend trainings or games if they have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 within the past 14 days. 
  • Consider no carpooling or very limited carpooling. 
  • Parents and Players should remain in their car until the designated time of entry and the attendees of the previous event have exited.
  • Parents should maintain least 6 feet from other non-family spectators and should not approach non-family players.
  • Parents or spectators should wear a mask when at practice or games. Players do not have to wear a mask.
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer to practice and games. 
  • Ensure the player has his/her own equipment (gloves, flags, water, bag, etc.) and is told not to share with others. 

 

Entry and Exiting Requirements into PSA Buildings

  • All Participants must enter and exit through the designated door at the respective building.
  • Monitoring Station will be set up at designated entry point for a thermal check.
  • This includes all Players, Spectators, Coaches, Official, staff, and volunteers must stop at Monitoring station on the way in the building.

PSA1 - Court Red 1 door, SE Corner

PSA2 - Main/South door

PSA Murphy - East side door

PSA McKinney - East door

 

Flag Football Practices and Games

 

  • All players are requested to wear gloves.  The quarterback may elect to not use a glove on the throwing hand.
  • No Mouthguards may be used.
  • Players on the sideline should be 6’ distance between each other.
  • Coaches should avoid clusters when speaking and use a mask.
  • Water bottles should have players name on it.
  • No Spitting.
  • Officials should wear mask pre-game and post-game.  Use social distancing during pre-game meetings.
  • Officials will disinfect game balls prior and after the game.
  • Keep Player belongings separate.
  • Notify your coach or manager immediately if the player becomes ill for any reason.
  • Do NOT engage in handshaking, hugs, high fives, during training or games.
  • When game and practice is over everyone should leave the arena immediately so the next event can arrive at the arena.

 

 General for Everyone

 

  • 6 feet distancing by all families.
  • 1 family member and no siblings (initially).
  • Stay at home if sick.
  • Reinforce handwashing and/or use of hand sanitizer.
  • NO spitting; encourage covering for coughs and sneezes.
  • Masks are recommended to be used by all spectators.

 

We all must be mindful of one another and work together to follow the guidelines to ensure the safety of all those who attend practices and games.  Please let us know if you have any questions or need clarification on the guidelines.

Game Scores and Evaluations

Coaches, after every game, teams must enter the score through COACHES TOOLS. Once you have entered the score, you will be prompted to evaluate the game refs. Please take a few minutes to do this and help improve our referee training and program.

 

Code of Conduct

Please review our COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT and have parents review our PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT. We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience based on good sportsmanship and clean competition.

  *Coaches registering a closed roster team must pay the full team fee or players will be added to fill your roster.

  

PREK through High School

PreK and Kindergarten: 8 games, No Post Season, 12 Players per Team
1st grade through High School: 8 games, Post Season Tourney, 12 Players per Team                                                                                

NEW ADULT LEAGUE: 2 Divisions OPEN and 35+, 7 games, Post Season Tourney, 10 Players Per Team

 

PreK-4th Grade:  7 v 7

5th Grade-Adult Divisions:  6 v 6

 

Fees: 

PreK- and Kinder: Individual - $90     Team - $1,080

1st - High School: Individual -$100     Team - $1,200
Adult  League      :Team- $1,000

Individuals:  Registrants will first be placed on existing teams.  Once existing teams are full, teams will be formed out of remaining individual registrants.  Players are placed based on zipcode and school.

Team Fee:  The team fee applies to teams that pay in order to limit their roster to a smaller number or keep PSA from adding individual pool players. Each additional player must pay the individual fee.

 

  • Flags included
  • Eight game season (Games can be any day of the week including weekends)
  • Playoffs for 1st grade through Adult Division only
  • Teams formed by school area
  • Form your own team or sign up for individual registration.
  • Spring Break-March 11th through 15th-No Games will be played
  • Jerseys not included
  • Mouthpieces not included.  All players must wear mouthpieces on the field of play
  • Coaches are primarily parent volunteers
  • Regular Season Medals for 1st Place Players
  • Post Season-1st Place Rings and Runner-Up Medals for Players
  • Trophies for Kindergarten Players

*Registration for Murphy and McKinney-specific leagues is available.  However, in the event that there are not enough teams or individual registrations to make full Murphy or McKinney leagues, the league will be merged with a Plano league.  Those teams merged with the Plano league will then be designated as Murphy or McKinney-area teams. Games between Murphy-area teams or McKinney-area teams will be played at their respective PSA facility when available.
